DIY PAPR AIR FILTER AND PUMP
When not in a hospital setting, you can create a DIY PAPR air filter unit for field work by using an air mattress pump with a CPAP filter and CPAP hose. Attach to your home-made PAPR hood to breath filtered air.
Designed by a Pulmonary/Critical Care ICU physician .
MATERIALS NEEDED
PROCESS AND BATTERY LIFE
See above for links to parts used to create this air filter unit. As shown in images and captions, attach two filters (intake and outflow) using electrical or duct tape.
If you use a battery-operated air pump, our test unit with 8 AA rechargeable 2300mAh NiMH batteries ran continuously for about 90 minutes.
